Kelliwood Killer Whales

The Kelliwood Killer Whales (KWKW) swim team is a recreational swim team, based in Katy, Texas. Our superior coaches create a fun, engaging team environment where your children can learn how to swim competitively and advance their swimming skills. KWKW is open for all swimmers aged 4-18 as of May 1st, 2026. KWKW is not a "learn to swim" program and all swimmers will be expected to swim the length of the pool by the end of the first week in a swim test.

We are so excited about this season! We will have 1 inter-squad meet, 4 dual meets and Meet of Champions & AllStars (must qualify for these/invitation only). Parents will be expected to volunteer at all regular season and specialized meets or pay their volunteer fee of $500. We cannot run the meets without parent involvement.

2026 Registration Fees: (Late Registration Fee of $25 extra per swimmer will take effect April 25th)

Ages 4-14: $175/swimmer (1st swimmer); $150 (2nd swimmer); $100 (Additional swimmers)

15 and older: $60/swimmer

Practice Meet: Saturday, May 16th - @ KWKW, swimmers arrive 7am

Away: Friday, May 29th – KWKW @ NCST, 6pm, arrive at 5pm

Away: Thursday, June 4th – KWKW @ GTST, 6pm, arrive at 5pm

Home: Thursday, June 11th – WFST @ KWKW, 5:30pm, arrive at 4pm

Home: Thursday, June 18th – FTST @ KWKW, 5:30pm, arrive at 4pm

Saturday, June 27th – Meet of Champs - 8:30am, arrive at 7:15 (Must qualify/Invitation only)

Sunday, June 28th - End of Season Team Party 

Tuesday, June 30th - All Stars Meet, 6pm, arrive at 5pm (Invitation only) 

** All HOME meets must conclude by 11pm, followed by clean-up/tear down.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

Beginning Monday, April 27th (Monday - Friday) Practices will be held in the afternoon at the following times:

7/8: 4:45 - 5:30 p.m.

6 and under: 5:30 - 6 p.m.

9/10: 6 - 6:45 p.m.

11 and up: 6:45 - 7:45 p.m.

Once school ends, the first MORNING practice will be FRIDAY, May 22nd and every Monday - Friday afterwards. Practices will be held in the morning at the following times:

7/8: 7 - 7:45 a.m.

6 and under: 7:45 - 8:15 a.m.

9/10: 8:15 - 9 a.m.

11/12: 9 - 10 a.m.

13 and up: 10 - 11 a.m.

*NEW THIS YEAR - Alternative Afternoon Practice

Intended for working parents who have difficulty making it to morning practice, we are offering afternoon practices twice a week. This is a trial period to see how it goes. If we have too many people come in the afternoon, it will not be an effective practice. Again, this is only for those who absolutely have a conflict with morning practice. You cannot attend both morning and afternoon practice.  Please be considerate and make the right choice. Morning Practice is the main, "age specific" practice and every effort should be made to attend Morning Practices. Also, Afternoon Practice is NOT OPEN TO 6 & Unders. 

Alternative Afternoon Practices will be offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Kelliwood Pool. 

Tuesday and Wednesdays Beginning May 26th

Ages 7-10 yr olds: 5-6pm

Ages 11 & older: 6-7pm

We will be using sportsYou to send out important notes from Coach Larry. Download from your app store or use this link (https://www.sportsyou.com), create a new account and enter this TEAM CODE: WYUR-TX6D. Be sure to turn on all notifications. 

Coaches are not babysitters. Their eyes are trained on the swimmers in the water. Children under the age of 10 MUST BE SUPERVISED by a parent if they are at the pool other than during their practice time.

Kelliwood Killer Whale Swim Team coaches, board members, or their agents or representatives are NOT responsible for your children before or after the end of their scheduled practice time. 

Please pick them up promptly! The facilities are open to ONLY Kelliwood residents and their guests after swimteam hours.

Likewise, TENT Parents at Swim Meets are not responsible for correcting poor behavior of swimmers. If your child is unable to follow directions or is being unreasonably and repetitively disruptive, you will be required to sit with your child for the remainder of the season during meets. Records of disorderly conduct will be kept and your child may be removed from the team without a refund with 3 documented occurrences over the course of their KWKW career. We have zero tolerance for mistreating teammates or disrespecting coaches, volunteers, etc.

No child under the age of 12 will be allowed to attend a meet without a parent or guardian present. It is your responsibility to find an adult (18 or older) to look after your child. Unaccompanied children WILL NOT be allowed to compete.

Look Up Your Swimmers Time History

Do you want to see your child’s time history? Go to “My Account” --> select your child --> select the Blue Hyperlink event description (ie. 25 yard backstroke). Ta-Da – a history of your child’s times by meet! If you see “—“, your swimmer was dis-qualified from that event and there is no record of that time.
